Seba Lecompte
BIOGRAPHY
Seba Lecompte (1981), born and raised in Gent, Belgium, got infected by electronic music in his early teenage years. His first musical explorations started with his dads record collection where he discovered bands like Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno and Kraftwerk.
Seba got more and more infected by this electronic virus after hearing acid house mixtapes by some older friends. In the summer of 1994 Seba began to collect records and started to deejay. In his early days Seba played all kinds of electronic music but influenced by the sounds of Detroit & Chicago, his style evolved to an upfront, techy and warm mix of techno, (tech-)house and minimal.
Over the years Seba heated up dancefloors all over Belgium. Highlights of 14 years behind the decks are his sets at places like Fuse, Kozzmozz, I Love Techno, 10 Days Off, Cityparade, Café D'Anvers, Silo, Laundry Day, Culture Club, Club Decadance, Made In Brussels, Muzzic, ...
In 2004 Seba became a weekly resident at Club Decadance in Gent on Wednesdays and occasional Saturdays. Between summer 2006 and summer 2008 Seba earned a monthly resident spot at the (in)famous Fuse club in Brussels, after been chosen out of more than 200 candidates.
Since 2005 Seba also started to spread his vibe abroad: the last 3 years Seba played at clubs like Raum-Klang (Berlin), Zementgarden (Berlin), Solar (Berlin), Sanatorium 23 (Berlin), Folies Pigalles (Paris), OPA (Paris), Jett Club (Paris), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Sugarfactory (Amsterdam), Stubnitz (Amsterdam), Doornroosje/Planet Rose (Nijmegen), The Old Cave (Nijmegen), ...
Since 2001 Seba is one of the driving members behind ‘SoundAttack’ (nowadays called ‘Bang The Box’), a Belgian techno collective. With SoundAttack Seba organised 30 events at various locations in and around Ghent with guests such as Joris Voorn (Nl), Dave Ellesmere (Uk), Edwin ‘rejected’ Oosterwal (Nl), Estroe (Nl), Dave Mothersole (Uk), Brent Roozendaal (Nl), Invite (Nl) and many more.
In October 2004 Seba created his second party concept ‘Minor Moves’ with mainly minimal and minimal techno on the menu. The past years Minor Moves invited artists like Magda (Can), Gabriel Ananda (Ger), Pheek (Can), Stewart S. Walker (Usa), Miss Yetti (Ger), Darko Esser (Nl), Heartthrob (Usa), …
Besides deejaying Seba is also active as a producer and is involved in two projects: The first project is called ‘Wings of sound’ where Seba teams up with Kim Kurz. Comprising of a mix of house through to melodic techno, this duo knows how to make you move. In 2004 they released their debut 12” on the London based imprint Eukatech and released follow ups on Floor Music, Mixed Music and Punk’Id records. Their previous releases got support and shouts from artists like Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Xpress2, Marco Carola, Marco Lenzi, Michel De Hey, Shinedoe, Valentino Kanzyani, Ben Sims, Estroe, Francois K, Steve Bicknell, Terry Lee Brown jr. and many more
Seba’s second project is called ‘Double Shift’, together with Shimakum. They performed several live-pa’s to strengthen their production and performing abilities. After their debut e.p. on DND Records (a subdivision of the Australian label Stream Recording) they recently released a track Manualism 2.0, a yearly compilation on the Dutch imprint Manual Music.
