Seyna

BIOGRAPHY

Raised between Brussels and Cagliari (Sardinia) as a the granddaughter of a pianist and composer, Seyna started her musical education very early. At the age of six she joined a music academy in Brussels to take lessons on music theory. During her education there and the 7 years of classical flute, seyna allready knew what she wanted and heavily rebelled against her teacher who gave her arrangements she did not like, composing thus her own parts for flute. This passion for music crossed through many genres going from Rachmaninov to hardcore punkrock.

But it was not until the day she decided to give in to explore the club scene while attending university in Ghent, that she got into dance music. After hearing Pierre, the resident dj of Fuse club play, Seyna was so impressed, she decided to save up some money to buy new technics record players, a mixer and records.

On her birthday 2 years later, march 2006, she started to practice at home every weekend, teaching herself the skills of mixing. She caught on quickly and knew after her first gig (2 months later) that this was a new passion and the love for music would stay for life. Soon going shopping would mean coming home with a bag full of vinyl records.

After the summer of 2006 she got to play for the first time at Culture Club (famous for its previous residents such as 2manydj's, the glimmers...and excellent parties with famous dj's such as Tiga and Felix the Housecat). After a year of resident nights at Culture Club and great experiences like sharing the decks with artists like Stephen Dewaele (2many djs, soulwax) and One man party (soulwax), Seyna decided to leave her beloved Ghent and move to London where she is currently studying at the renowned SAE INSTITUTE for Audio Engineering and electronic music production.
